The Education Resource Center provides technology
support for students and faculty, the Office of Undergraduate Medical
Education and the Office of the Dean of Education. Instructional
designers develop
instruction to assist students and faculty in accessing the wireless
network, establishing remote access
and other technical functions. ERC staff, knowledgeable in many
technical areas, are available to answer questions.

A virtual private network (VPN)
is a private data network that makes use of the public telecommunication
infrastructure,
maintaining privacy through the use of a secure protocol and special
security procedures.
In order to use a VPN connection, you will be
required to install and configure the VPN software on the computer
that you will be using to remotely connect to the Baylor network.

Baylor College of Medicine has instituted a policy that
requires antivirus software on any PC, Macintosh, or server connected
directly, or indirectly, to the BCM Network. In order to assist
the College's staff,
faculty, and students in adhering to the policy, Baylor College
of Medicine offers, free of charge, the Symantec Antivirus Corporate
Edition software. Download

This BCM communication tool allows you to upload a large file and
it will
remain on the Big File Server
for 30 days.
The BCM
Acceptable Use Policy applies to this communication tool. Colleagues
at other institutions can also use this tool to upload large files
for Baylor students and faculty.

Duplex printing
Duplex printing is available on our new black and white laser printers
in the ERC from printer ERC_HP_4350A in lab M208. By default, the duplex printing option is not selected.
To print a document on both sides (duplex printing), a user will
need enable the option.
After selecting a printer, the user should click
Properties.

When the Printing Preferences dialong box appears,
click the Finishing tab and select Print On Both Sides. Then click
Okay. Duplex printing has been enabled. NOTE: printing prices remain
the same for duplex printing.
