- AP view of pelvis (8/21/86): In this film, one can see
a large diffuse area of new bone formation surrounding the left femoral head
and acetabulum. There are no fractures or damage to the bony cortex
seen.
- AP view of pelvis (1/13/87): Five months later, both
hip joints now have calcification and ossification of bony substance.
Note the lacy bone formation and the central area of ossification that is
highly characteristic of this disease. The ossification typically
begins centrally and spread centripetally.
- AP view of pelvis (12/20/88): Two years later, we can
see that the heterotopic ossification has continued to spread. There
continues to be lacy new bone formation and central areas of
ossification.
